Flight Review
A Flight Review is a periodic evaluation required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to ensure that pilots maintain their flying skills and knowledge. Here's a detailed list of what it entails:
Eligibility
Pilot Certificate: Hold a current pilot certificate (private, commercial, or higher).
Timing
Biennial Requirement: Complete a flight review every 24 calendar months to remain current.
Ground Instruction
Minimum Duration: At least 1 hour of ground instruction, covering:
Regulations: Review of current federal aviation regulations (FARs) relevant to the pilot's operation.
Airspace: Understanding airspace classifications, operating requirements, and flight procedures.
Operational Procedures: Discussion of safe operating practices, emergency procedures, and risk management.
Flight Instruction
Minimum Duration: At least 1 hour of flight instruction, including:
Maneuvers: Review and practice of basic flight maneuvers, including takeoffs, landings, climbs, descents, and turns.
Emergency Procedures: Simulation and practice of emergency situations, such as engine failures and forced landings.
Flight Proficiency: Demonstration of proficiency in all required maneuvers and procedures appropriate to the pilot certificate held.
Documentation
Logbook Endorsement: Upon completion of a successful flight review the candidate will receive an endorsement from the flight instructor in your logbook, indicating satisfactory completion of the flight review.
